Wide Dynamic Ratio

Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) is a term used in the surveillance camera industry to refer to high-dynamic-range imaging and implies that the camera can handle bright and dark conditions and improve image quality.

Not all cameras have the same quality WDR.
Analogue cameras have a “WDR” that is actually a “Back Light Compensation” so not true WDR.
Some digital cameras have a WDR that is the “std” type of 60dB (vs a true 120dB WDR).

Attached is an example of a Hikvsision camera turning on true WDR.

NB: Please note that is an extreme example as the LHS is very dark with little/no natural light and the RHS is very bright with a massive amount of natural light.
